Oggi ho superato la barriera dei 5000 km di corsa, dopo un periodo di 21 mesi.

Ho iniziato a misurare i km a partire dal giorno 20 settembre 2009, perché avevo acquistato il cinturino NikePlus collegato in wireless al sensore della mia scarpa sinistra di running, una settimana prima di correre la Maratona del Garda 2009.

In realtà dopo un anno di utilizzo durante una gara ero caduto per terra e avevo danneggiato NikePlus, con il risultato che questo non era più impermeabile all’umidità. Quando ci entrava l’acqua o perché andavo a correre sotto la pioggia, o per via del caldo e del sudore, succedeva che NikePlus si spegneva, oppure non registrava più i km che facevo. Sono andato avanti 5 mesi prima di acquistare un nuovo NikePlus. Per questo penso di avere già superato 5000 km in realtà da molto tempo.

Detto questo però, io aspettavo di avere un risultato più ufficiale e allora per me è oggi 25 Giugno 2011 il giorno in cui posso dire di avere superato i 5000 km.

Durante questi 21 mesi ho fatto 243 sessioni di running, ho consumato 7 paia di scarpe, ho corso per quasi 470 ore e ho bruciato oltre 330.000 calorie !

Ho corso con continuità 3 o 4 volte ogni settimana in tutti i periodi dell’anno e in tutte le condizioni meteorologiche, tranne sotto i temporali quando ci sono i tuoni perché si dice che sono pericolosi, soprattutto in montagna.

Comunque corro circa 80 km alla settimana.

Quando vado in un posto per almeno 3 giorni porto sempre con me le scarpe da running. Anche in vacanza naturalmente, sia in montagna e sia al mare e anche nei non frequenti viaggi di lavoro.

Corro preferibilmente gli stessi percorsi, che sono situati nel Parco del Ticino sul Naviglio Grande a partire dal mio paese Albairate, però una volta alla settimana corro anche una gara tendenzialmente nei dintorni di dove vivo. Si tratta per lo più di gare corse nelle campagne e nei boschi della valle del Ticino.

Poi ci sono le corse competitive internazionali a cui partecipo nella mia categoria e per il mio Gruppo Podistico, cioè Atletica CRA Italtel. Si tratta in genere di Mezze Maratone e 2 Maratone all’anno.

In questi 21 mesi ho avuto alcuni infortuni, tutti durante l’inverno, che nella zona dove vivo è freddo e umido.

All’inizio del 2010 ho sofferto di una fastidiosa pubalgia che mi ha accompagnato fino alla primavera. Gli esperti dicevano che avrei dovuto convivere con la pubalgia per il resto dei miei giorni; in realtà non ho mai smesso di correre e la pubalgia se ne andata via come era venuta.

Lo scorso inverno invece, che è stato meno freddo del precedente, ma anche molto più piovoso, mi ha regalato un bel male alla schiena e mi ha costretto a uno stop forzato per circa 2 settimane.

Potete intuire che in quella occasione mi sono fermato proprio perché correre era diventato molto doloroso e praticamente impossibile. Naturalmente tutti gli esami clinici e i dottori mi dicevano che non sarebbe stato opportuno per me praticare il fondo e anzi forse sarebbe stato meglio smettere.

Ho praticato la ginnastica prevista e come avrete già capito non penso praticamente più al male alla schiena.

Quando sono in montagna io corro in montagna: nei boschi, sulle montagne dove arrivo fino alla croce e poi torno indietro, intorno alle montagne dove corro il periplo, sulle strade carrozzabili dove incrocio la corriera che suona il clacson prima di imboccare i tornanti, prima in salita e poi in discesa o viceversa.

Non ho una stagione preferita per il running: l’estate è fantastica quanto l’inverno. Con il tempo ho imparato a capire che l’unica vera stagione è quella della nostra vita. E’ in quella che noi dobbiamo cercare di non fare venire mai l’inverno. Il running è uno strumento potente per mantenere noi stessi in equilibrio psicofisico.

La mia distanza preferita è la Mezza Maratona, che poi è quella che corro almeno ad ogni seduta di allenamento. Sono un fondista, nel senso che comincio a stare veramente bene dopo 12km e mi sembra di dare il meglio fino ai 20km. Naturalmente quando devo affrontare una maratona cerco di rimodulare le distanza, in genere correndo in 2 giorni consecutivi prima una Mezza Maratona (21km) e nel giorno successivo almeno 32km.

Corro spesso da solo con il lettore mp3 e ascolto in genere musica elettronica. Armin Van Buuren è molto popolare dalle mie parti… La musica deve dare la carica !

Siamo in estate ed è normale sudare durante la corsa, cosa che amo molto perché mi sembra che aiuti a scaricare maggiormente la tensione nervosa accumulata durante il giorno o nei giorni senza corsa. Contrariamente a molte persone, il caldo dell'estate non mi infastidisce. Io penso che questo sia in gran parte dovuto alla corsa.

Ma anche di inverno non mi pesa stare delle ore all'aperto. Mi sembra di essere più resistente rispetto alla media e nella vita quotidiana non sento l'esigenza di coprirmi come gli altri. Però rispetto agli altri tendenzialmente non soffro mai delle malattie da raffreddamento.

Per me la corsa non è solo corsa, è più che altro un modo di interpretare l’esistenza con slancio, regolarità, generosità, voglia di vivere, di stare a contatto con la natura e con se stessi. E' anche in parte l'esigenza di godere dei silenzi e dei particolari che non si potrebbero mai vedere stando chiusi in un'automobile, o in un bar o in mezzo alla folla.

Il mio prossimo traguardo ? Non è facile a dirsi, probabilmente arrivare al più presto a 10.000 km !
